Introduction to Microsoft Azure Fundamentals

Estimated reading: 2 minutes 20 views

Microsoft Azure is a cloud computing platform offering an ever-growing range of services to help you build solutions tailored to your business goals.
Azure services cover both simple and complex needs:

  • Simple web services to host your online presence
  • Fully virtualized virtual machines to run your custom software solutions
  • Cloud services such as remote storage, database hosting, and centralized account management
  • And advanced capabilities like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT)

📘What is Azure Fundamentals?

Azure Fundamentals is a series of three learning paths designed to familiarize you with Azure and its many services and features.

Whether you are interested in compute, networking, storage services, cloud security best practices, or governance and management options, think of Azure Fundamentals as your personalized guide to discovering Azure.

This path includes interactive exercises to give you hands-on experience.
Many exercises use a temporary environment called the Azure sandbox, which allows you to create cloud resources for free and at your own pace.

No prior technical IT experience is required, but general IT knowledge will help you get the most out of the learning experience.

Why take Azure Fundamentals?

Whether you are new to the cloud or already have experience, Azure Fundamentals gives you everything you need to start strong.

This course is for you if you:

  • Have a general interest in Azure or cloud computing
  • Want to earn an official Microsoft certification (AZ-900)

🧠Preparation for the AZ-900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals exam

The exam covers three knowledge domains:

AZ-900 DomainWeight
Describe cloud concepts25–30%
Describe Azure architecture and services35–40%
Describe Azure management and governance30–35%

Each domain corresponds to a learning path in Azure Fundamentals.
The percentages indicate the relative weight of each domain in the exam: the higher the percentage, the more questions on that topic.

This module helps you develop a comprehensive understanding of Azure.
