The Cost Optimization pillar in the Azure Well-Architected Framework helps you ensure that your workload delivers sufficient return on investment (ROI).
Designing an architecture means supporting your business objectives while considering budget and ROI. Start by asking yourself these questions:
- Does your allocated budget truly support what you are trying to accomplish?
- How are you spending money on your application and its operations, and where should you focus your efforts?
- Can you get more out of what you already have, either by using it better or by reducing what is unnecessary?
The concepts described in this module do not cover all aspects of cost optimization for a workload, but they represent the fundamental principles and a few key approaches. For a complete overview of the Well-Architected Framework pillars, review the Well-Architected Framework when you begin planning and designing your architecture.
Each unit in this module explores one design principle and three approaches for that principle. You will find concrete examples in each unit to see how these approaches can be applied to real-world scenarios. All examples are based on fictional companies.
